The Ocean Days (part of a FRESHWATER NET Cluster Event) were organised by BIOEAST HUB CZ in Brussels last March 2026. The event hosted stakeholders from across Europe, especially participants in EU-funded projects of the Cluster.
During the event, the role of the cluster in the European bioeconomy and sustainability strategies was highlighted. The event allowed projects to find synergies, share experiences and challenges, and provided a suitable platform to explore opportunities for future joint actions.
During the session, several initiatives and projects working on water-related challenges were presented, including NIAGARA. Themes such as systemic governance approaches, nutrient management, circular bio-based solutions and ecosystem restoration were addressed, and the speakers presented early-stage results.
Finally, the importance of cluster activities and organisation was highlighted, stating that clustering enhances interoperability among players and technologies, reduces knowledge fragmentation and strengthens science-based policy actions.
